We read that in your letter you express your position on the important issue for the nation of Azerbaijan - the restoration of historical justice - to unite Azerbaijan.
You, are the first American political leader, openly expressing concern about the ancient nation, which, as you pointed out, 200 years ago was blasphemous divided into two parts. In 1945-1946, peoples of South Azerbaijan rebelled and gained their freedom. However, then, the fear of the Socialist system in the new land, the shah's military regime together with the world imperialist forces completely suppressed the free movement of nation. The insurgent, innocent people was strangling in its own blood. As a result, killed more than half a million, and 600 thousand of Azerbaijanis kicked out from own land who became refugees forever. All the cultural values of the nation burned out in the fire along with the living representatives of the intelligent men on the squares of the cities. It was really genocide.
Pahlavi's facist regime has destroyed everything that belonged to the Azerbaijani people. During 80 years since the mall management of Pahlavi’s family-, then the Mollah's regimes the 35 million people of Azerbaijan has no rights on own land. Ignored its own existence as a nation, language, literature, culture, traditions, school rights, own history. Assimilation policies intended to put an end to this creative and peaceful nation.
Your reasonable proposal to create a unified Azerbaijan, with the separation of South Azerbaijan from Iran. Azerbaijan fighting for the freedom for last 100 years, to get out of the Iranian Islamic despot, and it is the only way out in this situation. Iran, because of its ambition - to create the atomic bomb - should be punish by the separation of its main and feeding part - Azerbaijan. It makes no sense to create another Iraq in the region, at a cost of hundreds of billions dollars for the American budget. Devil maybe stopped without a fight, blood, loosing of value American sons on foreign soil.
It is only way, Dear Congressman, to assist the people of South Azerbaijan in their fighting get rid of the colonial shackles of Persian chauvinism to gain freedom and independence. Separation of Azerbaijan from Iran would be such a blow that Iran, hundred years after that will not come to deal with a threat to all humanity with the creation of the atomic bomb. More than that, Iran can never threaten Israel. Israel & Azerbaijan are brothers!
All the 50 millionth of the people as the South and the North Azerbaijan, as well as members of the Millions of Azerbaijanian diaspora, scattered throughout the world thanks you for your interest, Dear Congressman; and in your face, they find a real liberator in the American Congress. We wish you to achieve high ideals in your career and believe that you will not fall behind on your struggle to restore a peace, stability, and justice in Azerbaijan.
